View the APISearch by specialty
The specialty filter matches against NUCC taxonomy descriptions, classifications, and specializations — so searching "cardiology" returns cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, pediatric cardiologists, and related subspecialties. You can also enter a full taxonomy description such as "Cardiovascular Disease Physician" for a narrower match.
ZIP code radius search
Enter a 5-digit ZIP code and select a radius to find providers within that distance. Distances are calculated from ZIP code centroids rather than exact street addresses, so results are approximate. Geographic search can be combined with a specialty filter to find, for example, cardiologists within 25 miles of a given ZIP.
Individual vs. organization providers
NPPES assigns two types of NPI. Use the provider type filter to limit results to individual providers (physicians, nurses, therapists) or organizations (hospitals, clinics, group practices). Searching without a type filter returns both.
